Intro

This market tracks whether an AI lab will announce a solution to any of the qualifying Millennium Prize Problems by December 31, 2027. Currently, Polymarket gives this outcome an 84.5% probability. Resolution will be based on official information from eligible AI labs, as detailed by the resolution source, with a consensus of credible reporting potentially used as well. Traders should particularly watch for announcements from the eligible AI labs leading up to the December 31, 2027 deadline, as that is when a qualifying announcement would need to be made to resolve the market to “Yes”.

Polymarket

This market will resolve to "Yes" if an eligible AI lab, or an official representative of an eligible AI lab, announces that the lab has solved any of the qualifying Millennium Prize Problems by 11:59 PM ET of the date specified in the title. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". The qualifying problems are the Riemann Hypothesis, P versus NP, the Yang-Mills existence and mass gap problem, the Hodge Conjecture, and the Birch and Swinnerton-Dyer Conjecture (https://www.claymath.org/millennium-problems/). Announcements concerning the Navier-Stokes existence and smoothness problem will not qualify. A qualifying announcement must express that the problem has been solved; announcements of partial results or progress toward a solution will not qualify. The announcement must present the solution as the work of the lab, its researchers, or its models, alone or jointly with outside researchers. An announcement that only credits or congratulates outside researchers, including researchers who used the lab's models, compute, or research credits, will not qualify. No further confirmation from Clay Math Institute or any other organization is required. The eligible AI labs are Anthropic, Google, SpaceXAI, Alibaba, OpenAI, Baidu, Z.ai, Xiaomi, Moonshot, Meta, Nvidia, DeepSeek, MiniMax, Meituan, Amazon, ByteDance, Mistral, Tencent, StepFun, Microsoft, Harmonic, Axiom Math, Math Inc, Safe Superintelligence, Thinking Machines Lab, Reflection AI, Periodic Labs, Apple, IBM, Huawei, Samsung, Oracle, Salesforce, Cohere, AI21 Labs, Reka, Sakana AI, Poolside, Magic, Perplexity, Anysphere, Kuaishou, SenseTime, iFlytek, Baichuan, and 01.AI, together with their subsidiaries and research divisions, and any other company with a model listed on the MMLU-pro leaderboard (https://huggingface.co/spaces/TIGER-Lab/MMLU-Pro) at the time of the announcement. Announcements by any other company, organization, or individual will not qualify. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the eligible AI labs and/or their official representatives; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.

Currently, the prevailing sentiment in this market suggests a high probability of an AI lab announcing another Millennium Prize solution. This contrasts with some analyst forecasts, which are more conservative, estimating a lower chance of success within the given timeframe. While analysts often rely on expert opinions and modeling, this market aggregates the wisdom of the crowd, reflecting a broader range of information and perspectives. It's important to note that prediction market odds represent the collective belief of traders, which may differ from traditional expert predictions.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of the event occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market’s price fluctuates based on supply and demand, driven by new information, evolving sentiment, and trading activity. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market reflects the most up-to-date collective intelligence regarding the likelihood of an AI lab achieving a Millennium Prize solution.

This market resolves around Jan 1, 2028, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Resolution will depend on whether a recognized AI lab publicly announces a verified solution to one of the Millennium Prize Problems before the specified date. The announcement must be widely accepted by the relevant mathematical community as a valid and complete solution. The outcome will be determined by assessing publicly available information and expert consensus regarding the validity of any claimed solution.

Several signals could significantly impact this market. A major announcement from a leading AI lab regarding progress on a Millennium Prize Problem would likely cause a substantial price movement. Similarly, publications of new research papers or breakthroughs in relevant fields could shift trader sentiment. Unexpected setbacks or challenges faced by AI research teams could also lead to a decrease in the market price. Any credible news or developments related to the pursuit of these mathematical problems will be closely watched by traders and could influence the direction of this market.
