Description

This market will resolve to “Yes” if, according to the ISW map, Russia captures the intersection at 49.048958° N, 37.829063° E in Stavky, Donetsk Oblast, by the specified date 11:59 PM ET. The intersection will be considered captured if any part of the intersection is shaded red on the ISW map (https://storymaps.arcgis.com/stories/36a7f6a6f5a9448496de641cf64bd375) by the resolution date. If the area is not shaded red by the specified date, the market will resolve to “No”. For any change on the ISW map to qualify for this market’s resolution, the relevant shading indicating Russian control must persist through the next full ISW daily update cycle. If ISW skips a day, shading must persist until the next finalized ISW update is published, regardless of the date. Any continuous shading which reflects either “Assessed Russian Control”, “Assessed Russian Advance In Ukraine”, or “Assessed Russian Gains in the Past 24 Hours” will qualify. “Assessed Russian Infiltration Areas in Ukraine” will not qualify. If Russia comes into control of this territory as a result of a negotiated settlement, this will qualify for a 'Yes' resolution, regardless of whether it is shaded red in the ISW map. An announcement of a negotiated settlement that gives Russia de jure control will not qualify. Actual control must be established. Once Russia captures the intersection, any subsequent loss of control will not be considered towards the resolution of this market. If the ISW map is rendered unavailable, information from DeepStateMap (https://deepstatemap.live/) may be used. If information from both the ISW and DeepStateMap are rendered permanently unavailable, a consensus of credible reporting may be used. Note: Any temporary glitches or errors in the map will not be considered.

Frequently asked questions

The Stavky capture market dashboard on Polymarket tracks real-time odds and historical price movements for this geopolitical event. Traders can monitor the current probability estimate alongside 24-hour trading volume and cumulative liquidity metrics. The interface displays how market participants are pricing the likelihood of Russian forces capturing this Ukrainian location, updated continuously as new trades execute. This live data helps traders assess sentiment shifts and identify potential entry or exit points throughout the prediction window.

Prediction market odds reflect aggregated trader expectations and often diverge from traditional analyst assessments. While think tanks and military analysts may issue point forecasts based on intelligence and historical precedent, this market prices in real-time information, uncertainty, and the collective judgment of thousands of participants with financial stakes in the outcome. Comparing the current odds to published expert opinions can reveal where the crowd sees asymmetric risk or where consensus has shifted. Such gaps sometimes signal emerging intelligence or changing battlefield dynamics that analysts have not yet fully incorporated.

On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. On Polymarket, this market uses an automated market maker model where prices are determined by the ratio of liquidity pools backing each outcome. Traders buy and sell shares representing yes or no positions, and the price adjusts dynamically based on order flow and pool depth. Higher trading volume typically narrows spreads and improves price discovery. The platform's transparent order book and real-time settlement mechanics allow traders to execute positions with minimal slippage and verify pricing against the underlying probability model.

This market resolves on Oct 1, 2026. The outcome is determined by whether Russian forces have captured and maintained control of the specified location by that date. Resolution hinges on verifiable reports from credible news sources, military analysts, and official statements. Traders should monitor battlefield updates, casualty reports, and territorial control maps in the weeks leading up to the deadline. Any ambiguity about the exact timing or definition of capture may affect how the resolution authority interprets the final state.

Major military offensives, significant casualty reports, and shifts in supply lines or reinforcements could trigger sharp price swings. Diplomatic developments, ceasefire negotiations, or international sanctions announcements may also influence trader sentiment. Weather conditions, seasonal military activity patterns, and technological breakthroughs in weapons or defense systems could alter the tactical calculus. Media coverage of strategic importance or symbolic value may shift perception of the likelihood. Traders should track official military statements, satellite imagery releases, and statements from Ukrainian and Russian officials for real-time catalysts.
