Resolves Jan 1, 2027
$
This market tracks whether Russian forces will gain complete control of Bilytske, a municipality in Donetsk Oblast, as indicated by red shading across the entire territory on the ISW Ukraine map. On Polymarket, the probability of full Russian capture stands at 3.5%. Resolution will be determined by the ISW map, with DeepStateMap as a secondary source if needed, and requires all area within the municipality boundaries to be shaded red indicating Russian control. Watch for updates to the ISW map through June 30, 2026, as any persistent red shading across the full municipality through a complete ISW daily update cycle will trigger a Yes resolution.
This market will resolve to “Yes” if, according to the ISW map, Russia captures the entirety of Bilytske, Donetsk Oblast (48.40731° N, 37.17956° E) by the specified date, 11:59 PM ET. Bilytske will be considered captured if the entirety of the municipality is shaded red on the ISW map (https://storymaps.arcgis.com/stories/36a7f6a6f5a9448496de641cf64bd375) by the resolution date. If the area is not shaded red by the resolution date, the market will resolve to “No”. For any change on the ISW map to qualify for this market’s resolution, the relevant shading indicating Russian control must persist through the next full ISW daily update cycle. If ISW skips a day, shading must persist until the next finalized ISW update is published, regardless of the date. Any continuous shading which reflects either “Assessed Russian Control”, “Assessed Russian Advance In Ukraine”, or “Assessed Russian Gains in the Past 24 Hours” will qualify. “Assessed Russian Infiltration Areas in Ukraine” will not qualify. The territory of the municipality is shaded in light grey and is distinguished from bordering municipalities with a darker grey line. If all area within the municipality is shaded in red, however, the shading does not precisely match up with the border such that there is a tiny amount of grey along the border of the city, this will still qualify for a "Yes" resolution. Once Russia captures the entirety of the specified area, any subsequent loss of control will not be considered towards the resolution of this market. Location on Google maps: https://maps.app.goo.gl/Mvo2YhxGYBVhKSm89 The primary resolution source for this market will be the ISW Ukraine map. If the ISW map is rendered unavailable, information from DeepStateMap (https://deepstatemap.live/) may be used. If information from both the ISW and DeepStateMap are rendered permanently unavailable, a consensus of credible reporting may be used. Note: Any temporary glitches or errors in the map will not be considered. If Russia comes into control of this territory as a result of a negotiated settlement, this will qualify for a 'Yes' resolution, regardless of whether it is shaded red in the ISW map. An announcement of a negotiated settlement that gives Russia de jure control will not qualify. Actual control must be established.
Prediction market odds reflect real-money consensus from traders on Polymarket, whereas analyst forecasts typically come from geopolitical research firms and military intelligence assessments. Markets often price in faster or slower timelines than traditional analysts expect, depending on recent battlefield reports and supply chain developments. Comparing the two reveals whether traders are more optimistic or pessimistic than expert consensus. Analyst forecasts tend to be more conservative and slower to update, while markets react immediately to breaking news about territorial control and military operations in the region.
On Polymarket, this outcome is priced as a binary contract where traders buy or sell shares reflecting their belief in full Russian capture of Bilytske by Jan 1, 2027. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The current implied probability stands at 57.5%, meaning the market assigns a low likelihood to this scenario. Prices fluctuate based on order flow, geopolitical developments, and updated intelligence about military positions. Traders can enter or exit positions at any time before resolution, and the final settlement depends on verified reports of territorial control at the deadline.
The market resolves on Jan 1, 2027, at which point the outcome is determined by verified evidence of whether Russia controls all of Bilytske. Resolution hinges on credible reporting from military sources, satellite imagery, and on-the-ground confirmation of territorial boundaries. The binary nature means the market settles to either yes or no based on the specific definition of full capture. Traders should monitor official announcements and independent verification sources as the deadline approaches to understand how the resolution criteria will be applied.
Major catalysts include battlefield advances or retreats, changes in military supply lines, diplomatic negotiations, and casualty reports affecting operational capacity. Announcements of new weapons shipments, reinforcement deployments, or shifts in command strategy can rapidly shift market odds. Satellite imagery showing fortification changes or troop movements often triggers repricing. Statements from Ukrainian or Russian officials about territorial control, as well as third-party assessments from NATO or UN observers, carry significant weight. Weather patterns affecting combat operations and seasonal military activity cycles may also influence trader expectations about the feasibility of capture by the June deadline.
