Intro

On Polymarket, the leading outcome—Putin out by June 30, 2027—stands at 27.0%, while the earlier deadline of December 31, 2026 is priced at 9.5%. Watch for any official announcement of resignation or removal, which would immediately trigger a Yes resolution regardless of the effective date.

Polymarket

This market will resolve to “Yes” if Vladimir Putin ceases to be President of Russia for any period of time between market creation and the specified date (ET). Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”. An announcement of Vladimir Putin's resignation/removal before this market's end date will immediately resolve this market to "Yes", regardless of when the announced resignation/removal goes into effect. If the specified individual is detained, effectively removed from the specified position, or otherwise permanently prevented from fulfilling the duties of the specified position within this market’s timeframe, it will qualify for a “Yes” resolution. The resolution source for this market will be official information from Vladimir Putin and the government of Russia; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.

Prediction market odds on Polymarket reflect real-money trader expectations and differ meaningfully from traditional polling. While polls measure public opinion or expert sentiment at a single moment, prediction markets aggregate dispersed information from participants with financial incentives to forecast accurately. The current market probability on Polymarket incorporates geopolitical developments, sanctions, domestic Russian politics, and other factors that traders believe affect the likelihood of Putin's removal by year-end 2026. Prediction markets often diverge from polls because traders are betting real capital, creating stronger accountability for accuracy than survey respondents face.

On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. On Polymarket, this event is priced at 13.5% probability, meaning traders collectively assess roughly a 13.5% chance that Putin will no longer be President of Russia by December 31, 2026. The price reflects the ratio of shares purchased for "yes" (Putin out) versus "no" (Putin remains). As new information emerges—such as political developments in Russia, international sanctions, health reports, or succession signals—traders adjust their positions, moving the price up or down. The current pricing balances geopolitical risk against the baseline assumption of regime continuity.

Several catalysts could shift market odds significantly. Major geopolitical escalation or de-escalation in Ukraine would alter perceptions of regime stability. Domestic Russian political developments—including elite fractures, military dissent, or succession maneuvering—could signal vulnerability. International sanctions or economic deterioration might increase pressure on the regime. Health crises, assassination attempts, or coup rumors would spike the probability sharply. Conversely, consolidation of power, military victories, or diplomatic breakthroughs could lower odds. Media reports, intelligence leaks, and statements from Russian officials or Western analysts all influence trader sentiment. The market will react most strongly to events suggesting imminent or credible threats to Putin's continued presidency.
