Resolves Apr 18, 2027
$
The next French presidential election is currently expected to be held in April 2027. This market will resolve to “Yes” if the listed individual publicly announces that they are running for President in the 2027 French presidential election by December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”. An announcement by the listed individual of their candidacy will be sufficient to trigger a "Yes" resolution, regardless of whether they actually formally file their candidacy, or whether they actually appear on the ballot. Statements that merely indicate the listed individual is considering a run, is expected to run, or is being discussed as a possible candidate will not be sufficient. The primary resolution source for this market will be official statements from the listed individual; however, a consensus of credible reporting will also be used.

On Polymarket, this market is priced using a continuous double auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the probability of a candidate announcing their candidacy. As more people buy shares in a particular outcome, the price of those shares increases, reflecting a higher perceived probability. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price movements are driven by supply and demand, and the market aims to aggregate the collective wisdom of participants. This dynamic pricing allows for a real-time assessment of expectations surrounding the upcoming election.
This market resolves around Apr 18, 2027, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the resolution will depend on whether a candidate has publicly announced their intention to run for the French presidency in 2026. Official announcements made by the individuals themselves, reported by reputable news sources, will be the basis for determining the winning outcome. The market will close and payouts will be calculated based on which outcome aligns with the verified reality at that time.
Several key signals and events could significantly impact this market. Major political developments in France, such as shifts in public opinion, changes in the political landscape, or endorsements from influential figures, could all cause price fluctuations. Any official statements from potential candidates regarding their future plans would also be a major catalyst. Unexpected economic news or international events could also indirectly influence the market, as they might affect the political climate. Monitoring these factors will be crucial for understanding how this market evolves leading up to Apr 18, 2027.
